A healthy, vibrant America needs brilliant, hard-working immigrants from all around the world to help keep us great. But we need a smart, legal, and safe process, not the catastrophic dereliction of duty that Joe Biden and the Democratic Party have allowed to fester at the Southern border. Illegal immigration is a slap in the face for immigrants who wait their turn in line and enter the US through legal channels. On top of that, drug cartels control the Mexican side of the border and as a result deadly drugs like fentanyl are pouring into the country and devastating our communities. In 2020, someone in New Jersey died every three hours from an opioid overdose. This is unacceptable.

 

During his first week in office, Biden moved to reverse Trump’s carefully negotiated deals with Mexico and Northern triangle countries which had helped stem the tide of illegal crossings as legitimate asylum cases were adjudicated in applicants’ home countries. As a result, Customs and Border Patrol apprehended 1.96 million illegal migrants in FY 2021, blowing the previous record out of the water. This Democrat-made disaster has eroded our respect across the globe and created a preventable humanitarian crisis.

 

While the administration tries to gaslight the American people, the border remains effectively open and deadly substances are pouring into our New Jersey communities, fueling an already dire opioid crisis. I will fight to put an end to this national embarrassment and get us back on track to a secure, sane and respectable immigration and border policy.
