MORRISTOWN, NJ – Today, Tom Toomey, Republican candidate for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, issued the following statement in response to video footage of senior political advisors to Governor Phil Murphy revealed plans to implement a statewide vaccine mandate after this year’s Gubernatorial election:

“Phil Murphy is exactly who we thought he was. A liberal elitist who views your rights with contempt.  New Jersey deserves an honest answer about his plans to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine. The decision to receive the COVID-19 vaccine should be between a patient and their doctor. A vaccine mandate is little more than a cop out. Governor Murphy clearly lacks the leadership necessary to lead New Jersey in the direction he wishes to go. So now, it seems he plans to threaten New Jersey into compliance.

Footage of Wendy Martinez, identified as a Senior Advisor to Gov. Phil Murphy’s campaign, was obtained by Project Veritas Action and released via Twitter on the night of October 25th. In this footage, Martinez repeatedly affirms Murphy’s plans to mandate the COVID-19 vaccination should he be re-elected this year, explaining:

“[Phil Murphy] is going to [mandate the COVID-19 vaccine], but he couldn’t do it before the election. Because they’re all into that shit. My rights, my shit.”

When directly asked if Murphy would mandate the vaccine after the election, Martinez stated:

“He will. But right now it about him winning. It will be fine.”
